The faces of Vitosha – with gratitude
The Faces of Vitosha is a documentary about the mountain, the people, the relationship between us, and much more, and Natural Explorers were involved in making it. On Tuesday, April 17th, there was a screening of the film with a CAUSE – to raise funds in support of three non-governmental organisations working with children and young people with the aim of helping them acquire mountaineering culture and a connection with nature. The hall was full, the event was widely shared, and the air was charged with excitement. Such events inspire us to be braver and more confident because we receive support and recognition, reflected in people’s eyes and smiles. We are grateful to all of the people involved – the filmmakers Alex and Nicola, with whom we are planning more adventures :); the viewers who, while watching the movie, become participants :); the Traveller’s Club and ‘Dom na kinoto’ cinema: all who support, participate, disseminate. We are thankful for the level of organisation of our team and our presence <3.
The funds raised from the film (after covering all expenses) are 1,051.06 levs! They will be divided equally between Natural Explorers – ‘Mountain, I Love You!’ campaign, Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) – Children’s Nature Academy and The Bulgarian Extreme and Freeride Association (BEFSA) – Lavinistika (‘Avalanche Studies’).
The money we have raised from the charity sales of BUFFY (buff, headband) are 450.00 levs! We thank everybody who became owners of a buff and supported our campaign.
We go on! ☺ ‘Mountain, I Love You! 2018’ is looking for participants in summer mountain camps – more information about who can take part and how can be found here.
” … Because from the top of the mountain I can see vast expanses and because in the breath of the forest I can feel my self…”
